Cogeneration-Trigeneration Systems
Cogeneration systems are combined energy systems in which electricity and heat are produced together by burning other fuels, especially natural gas, in an engine or turbine. In other words, cogeneration is the simultaneous production of energy in the form of electricity and heat from the same system and making it available to businesses. In this context, we can say that the biggest goal in cogeneration is to benefit from primary fuel energy at the highest rate.
Generally, electrical and heat energies are supplied independently, while in cogeneration the energies in question are produced simultaneously. In this sense, the basic logic of cogeneration is to utilize the waste heat of the power-producing machine, thus increasing energy efficiency and diversity, and producing more economical results than producing two forms of energy independently and in separate processes.
In trigeneration systems, energy; It can be offered to businesses simultaneously in three different ways: electricity, heating and cooling.
The difference between trigeneration and cogeneration is that, thanks to the cooling system included in the system, the heat produced can be converted and used for cooling needs. Savings and efficiency are achieved by applying trigeneration systems to businesses that need seasonal or continuous cooling.
